Renovation rescue ...

Not much to report from me at the mo other than renovations to the house.
I had a nasty incident with a broken washer, a tap that wouldn't shut off (for FOUR HOURS) and a wrestle with a wrench in nothing but a towel.
Cost? $1500 for a brand new water system and eternal debt to Bo's big brother Steven for coming over on a Saturday night and fixing it all.

We then decided to finally get my hideous mirrored wardrobes ripped out. They were the worst you've ever seen - and I even lost friends over them!
Anyway, we opted for two identical plain white built-ins. Reasonably priced, we were assured it was a four-hour job.
Yes, probably, if the man hadn't been a complete perv who spent the entire Saturday being a sleaze.
He even offered to do the work in our laundry (next on the list) for 'just materials *wink*'
He then stuffed it up and said he to come back to finish the job on the Sunday and 'would my friend be out?'. And to add insult to injury he left the very large mirrored wardrobe doors in our garden during a storm, and they smashed - glass first- into a tree.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Anyway, the wardrobe was completed and he did an amazing job.
Tick.

And now we're just waiting for six new doors to be installed. We're getting all the main internal and external doors replaced - it's supposed to take two weeks but based on our experience with our security doors (took SIX MONTHS) to be installed, I'm not holding my breath ...

Girls who like boys, who do boys like their girls ...

Saw this on reuters and it made me chuckle.

A woman ejected from the female restroom after a New York City restaurant mistook her for a man has settled her discrimination lawsuit for $35,000, she said on Tuesday.

Khadijah Farmer , a 28-year-old lesbian, ate at the Caliente Cab Restaurant Co. last July with her girlfriend and a friend after marching in the gay pride parade in Greenwich Village.

When Farmer went to use the restroom, the restaurant's bouncer told her men were not allowed in the women's room, according to the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund, which filed the lawsuit.

Farmer said she volunteered to produce identification proving she was female but was rebuffed. A representative of the restaurant was not immediately available for comment.

"People come in all shapes and sizes, and they shouldn't be discriminated against because they don't match someone's expectations of how masculine or feminine they should be," Farmer said in a statement.

Now, I'm not really in any position to cast stones etc, but I thought she was Sidney Poitier.

Barack goes to Bollywood

I'm a sucker for anything Bollywood - and this seems to tickle my fancy both musically and politically
